Enough with Carlos Giménez’s lies about Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. It’s time to set the record straight.
Carlos Giménez and his allies say… he’s not corrupt.
The truth is that Carlos Giménez has been the subject of multiple ethics investigations. His adult sons were powerful lobbyists representing companies with business in Miami-Dade. One of his adult sons even worked for Donald Trump, and Carlos Giménez faced an investigation after Donald Trump allegedly illegally lobbied Giménez to advance his agenda.
His other son owns part of a company that received $5 million in county subsidies. Giménez’s sons have lobbied the government he oversees for contracts and favors on behalf of developers. Writers for the Miami Herald, Miami New Times, and the Miami Times have even condemned Gimenez’s unethical behavior.
Carlos Giménez and his allies say…. Debbie is out of touch with her district.
The truth is that Debbie is in touch with her district after working in the 26th District for 20 years, while Carlos Gimenez is a partisan Republican who is out-of-touch with this district.
In Congress, Debbie has established a record of fighting for her community, working to expand opportunity and making sure everyone who works hard has a chance to live the American Dream. She’ll work with anyone to fight for her people, and she’ll take on anyone who wants to hurt her district.
That’s why Debbie has fought for legislation that’s been signed into law by President Trump, including legislation to provide coronavirus relief, a bill to protect veterans, and compensation for 9/11 victims. And she’s worked with Republican lawmakers to protect and expand funding for the Everglades.
But you can count on Debbie to never compromise her principles, and that’s why she’s fighting against Republicans like Carlos Gimenez, who are trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act and eliminate protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

The truth is that Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is an immigrant from Ecuador, she’s not involved in a wild conspiracy theory involving Eastern Europe. These attacks from Carlos Gimenez are absurd and false.
The truth is that Debbie’s husband is a lawyer for an American restaurant company, and before that was the lawyer for an American company that owned steel mills and employed hundreds of American workers.
These are the same false attacks that Republicans used in 2018 against Debbie. They were false then and they are false today — and South Floridians know they are false.
Carlos Giménez and his allies say…. Debbie benefited from the PPP loan program.
The truth is that Debbie has absolutely not benefited from this program. This is just another false attack pushed by Carlos Gimenez because he doesn’t want to talk about his own record as Mayor.
In Congress, Debbie fought hard for the CARES Act, which delivered emergency coronavirus aid for small businesses, unemployment relief, and direct stimulus payments. More than 92,000 people in our district kept their jobs because of the PPP loans that she helped pass.
Meanwhile, her husband is one of 10,000 employees of a restaurant company that received and then returned a PPP loan — a decision he had no control over.
